One of the quilt shows that American Quilter’s Society conducts was held in Branson, Missouri. Branson is such a fun place for a quilt show and for tripping again for the first time in two years! The Cuz, my wonderful traveling buddy, and I had a great time. The American Quilter’s Society show in itself was great. Just the right size for two not very energetic quilters to visit and walk around in after two years of sitting in the house waiting out the pandemic. We spent two days at the show and saw all the vendors, quilts, and sights we could see. In the next few posts, I will share some of the details of our Fabri-cation (my key-phrase for a vacation that is based on finding fabric, fabric shops, fabric sights, and anything to do with quilting and fabric while under the guise that your husband thinks you are working). Since it was spring break for my school age side kick, we dragged her along and visited some “kid friendly” sites, too. More about those in an upcoming post.
Quilts and More Quilts at the Quilt Show
We saw so many beautiful quilts in the show. I can only aspire to piece a quilt as beautiful as the intricately pieced quilts that were on display. But then, they “talk” for themselves:
The pictures of the above quilt just don’t do this quilt the justice of seeing it in person. BEAUTIFUL! So intricately pieced and quilted. The colors are some of my favorites–green with navy. It was such a pleasure to admire. The medallions were all separately pieced and then appliqued on the background.
The next one is named Peacock Quilt by LuCinda Pincince from Franklin, Tennessee. The blues, greens and golds just jumped off the quilt. The tiny gold binding really pulled it all together and created a frame that set it all off and brought out the gold in the quilt. So stately!
Vendors and More Vendors
The vendors ranged from quilt machine vendors to small fabric shop vendors. After viewing the magnificent quilts, we headed over to the vendors. We spent two afternoons visiting the various vendors and had a great time. Of course, I had to buy SOMETHING! But more on that and what I did with some of my purchases in a later post. The “shops” were set up like small fabric/quilting stores and they were each a pleasure to shop in on the days we were there. It was a great opportunity to shop some of items we truly can’t find in our small shopping area. Our closest fabric shop, besides my online shop, is approximately 50 miles away. We truly live in a fabric shop waste land. One of the cutest shops was the one that offered mini quilt hangers. A picture of one of the hangers is in the topmost picture.
